MIRA KAMADA
Contemporary Paintings from the Pacific Northwest
Mira Kamada is a fine artist and designer living in Bellingham, WA. Her current oil and acrylic paintings explore semi-abstract forms drawn from nature. Kamada’s fascination with painting started early when she began traditional oil painting classes. Growing up in New Jersey she frequented art museums and galleries in Manhattan. The landmark exhibition, “New York Painting and Sculpture: 1940-1970” at the Met, featuring the Abstract Expressionists, was a pivotal event in her artistic awakening.
While completing graduate studies in painting under June Kilgore at Marshall University, Kamada taught art in West Virginia. On a break from teaching she moved to California to work as a graphic designer and illustrator for a small book publisher, followed by stints at a daily newspaper, and an advertising agency. In 1994 she opened her design studio in Monterey. In 2004 she moved to the Pacific Northwest to focus on fine art.
Kamada’s work has been exhibited across the US and in British Columbia. Her paintings are in both private and public collections, and have appeared in films.
